Current Obsessions: #2 Floats

After working with hollows, I got intrigued to take the hollow shape one step further, give it more sculptural qualities and increase their size.

A result of these experiments are my new “Floats” pendants and necklaces.

These necklaces and pendants are made with large, hollow beads that I pulled into an elongated, pod-like shape. So far I only worked with transparent colors, because this really highlights the properties of hollow beads: light weight, delicate, fragile, transparency that lets the light shine through and multiplies it.

I am very much obsessed with this series … love the futuristic, minimalistic look and the soft curves. And I really dig the seeming contradiction in these beads between large scale, yet delicate and fragile shapes.

It’s so “me” … I think these beads are a true representation of my own style & taste. Which means that I’m hopefully one step further in my quest to find my own voice in glass, to find this elusive niche in a wide field of glass artists and bead styles.

Talk soon,

PS. If you want to check out the new Floats necklaces & pendants, you can find them in my Etsy jewelry shop.
