Judith Billig was born in Neuwied, Germany, in 1965 and pursued a career in IT, specializing in database programming and project management.

In 2005 she discovered her passion for jewelry and she soon started to exhibit and sell her jewelry pieces in local galleries. Judith was introduced to lampwork beads while researching new materials for her jewelry pieces. The amazing possibilities of lampworking ignited the wish to learn this art form, and after relocating from New Zealand to the United States, she attended her first lampworking class in March 2007.

She immediately developed a deep passion for lampworking and soon devoted all her artistic energy into melting glass and designing jewelry made with her own art glass beads.

Judith Billig’s beads and jewelry has been published in the 9th Annual Gallery of Women in Glass (Winter 2013), “The Glass Bead” magazine, various issues of “The Soda Lime Times”, “The Flow” magazine, “Women in Glass” magazine, the “Fifth Silver Color How To eBooklet” and in the AGLF calendars of 2010 and 2011. Her “Moonflowers” tutorial was published in “The Soda Lime Times”, issue September 2012.

Judith is a member of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers and the local Californian ISGB chapter “The Fireflies”.
